Lieve Vanhoutte

As time went on, instead of just enjoying art, Lieve felt the need to create “something” herself.
Her love for shapes and forms and the fascination with the appearance of stone (especially marble and alabaster), stimulated her imagination. In Italy she found the time and focus to take her first steps in sculpting (under the expert guidance of Isidoor Goddeeris, Lieve’s partner).

A new world opened up.

Her sculptures lean towards the abstract. She draws inspiration in everyday shapes that intrigue her, such as bunkers, primitive buildings, a skyline, but also organic forms. Lieve looks for where her imagination and the reality of the stone find each other. An infinitely fascinating process…
