Bert De Geyter woont en werkt in Gent, België. Hij is een pure tekenaar, en werkt met gecomprimeerde houtskool (Siberisch krijt) en oliestick of oliepastel op Vlaams linnen of op (Hahnemühle) papier.
De artistieke praktijk van De Geyter is ontsproten uit een herkenbaar moment van kolossaal verlies, dat aanleiding gaf tot een allesomvattend, liefhebbend inzicht. Sindsdien heeft de kunstenaar de essentie en de wijsheid van verlies en loslaten vastgegrepen – een les die de vlinderkinderen hem brachten. Het gaat niet om escapisme, maar om het omarmen van de brute realiteit. Het is de schoonheid van radicale aanvaarding.
